Art Box

A place that I recently visited was Art Box, where you can recreate famous paintings and iconic images using your avatar. Taking photo's is one of my favourite things to do in SL so I enjoyed spending some time there.

.
There are two levels full of scenes to chose from but from what I saw there was only one level in which the props were rezzed. This is only a problem if more than one person wants to take photographs at the same time then you end up booting each others props out. (Actually it's not a problem at all if people are courteous to each other)

Whether you want to recreate the famous shower scene from Psycho or be part of The Simpsons family, there is something here for everyone.

Maxximum Rock City

I think I've found a new favourite place to hang out in SL, Maxximum Rock City.

Home to the Electric Sunset Lounge club which hosts events both inside in club and outside in the park. All the event details can be found on a board in the club but unfortunately for me I'm in bed at the event times. The owner of the club has made it nice enough for people to hang around outside of those hours by installing playable darts, pool and greedy. (I tried out the pool and darts while there and I play much the same in SL as I do in RL ... pitiful) Rusty Leather Radio is playing so the club isn't left in deadly silence.

Venturing outside the club I discovered a cinema

plus rental properties, both residental and commercial.

Maxximum Rock City is also home to WMEL Pirate Rock Radio,

Meow BDSM Cafe

and Gatinha's escort and strip club. Maps are placed in various spots making it easy to teleport to the different places.

Maxximum Rock City is a great detailed urban region and you can tell that the owner has put a considerable amount of time and thought in to the build. The atmosphere made me feel right at home. Rock City is a relatively new place which I hope does really well in SL and lasts for years in this quickly changing virtual world.

Sincerely Yours Exhibit

Today I visited a place that is recommended in the SL Destination Guide, the Sincerely Yours exhibit which is currently on display at The Vordun Museum and Gallery.

The exhibit is just a small part of a postcard collection sent to one person from people all over the world via Postcrossing. I have never heard of Postcrossing before but this explains what it is.

Even though it is only a small exhibit I found it interesting to look at all the different postcard images and to read snippets of other people's lives.

While there you can also grab yourself some postcards from the gift shop to sent off to your friends.

Red's Mystery Shack

The place that I visited today was the roadside attraction, Red's Mystery Shack. This is something that we don't have in the UK but if I ever come across a huge statue of a Sasquatch by the roadside I'd soon be in there.

I nipped in to the shop, grabbed myself a Fanta from the drinks machine and sat to cool off for a while before heading towards the Mystery Shack.

After looking at the weird and wonderful curiosities, I tried out the strange zero gravity inside the shack.

To the back of the shack is a pool if you feel like a dip plus more shacks to explore which makes it a great place to take on photos. There is also a MadPea escape bunker at the side of the Mystery Shack.

Before heading off home I went back to the shop and grabbed myself some souvenirs as a reminder of the day. Red's Mystery Shack isn't a big place by any means but it is very detailed and worth checking out.

MadPea Mad World

The latest place I have been exploring is Mad World which has been built as a derelict theme park and it is amazing. I've been back and forth over the past couple of days because there is just so much to see.

On entering the theme park you will see notice some fairground types games but they can not be played by using Lindens but with Mad Points and you also need to be a certain level. Now I didn't have a clue what this meant at first but these are earned by playing the Mad Pea Hud games (these are displayed across from the fairground games).

If you don't have any Mad Points, don't let that put you off because there are plenty of other things to do here.
Lots of interactive rides and games.

Many different areas which are great for taking photos.

Tired of walking? Jump in to one of these cute animal carts.

While there I had a go at the Escape Room Bunker. This is a 30 minute game which was great to play but unfortunately I didn't manage to get out and met a grisly demise.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time spent at Mad World and will be returning soon to check out the games.
Information about Mad Pea games and events can be found here.

The Crystal Heart Festival

Today I went to The Crystal Heart Festival, a Mahou Shoujo themed event. This is the third year the festival has been held and it seems very popular (it may take you a couple of attempts to get on to the region)

The stores are not only in the main landing point but around the atrium too so don't forget to go outside. Whether you are shopping for clothing or make-up, accessories or hair, there is plenty to chose from.

When I saw this stall I couldn't resist buying one of the little fella's.

I also picked up a couple of poses from the Starry Night gacha at Stardust,

a Moon Bunny, the Luna earrings from e.marie and some cool cat frame glasses from Moon. (I'm so in love with these glasses, I'd wear them in RL).
A list of the shops at this year's festival can be found here.

Happy 15th Birthday Second Life

Second Life turned 15 years old this month and this milestone is being marked with crystal themed celebrations. Various events are being held from live music to shopping and exhibitions.
For the past couple of days I've been checking out the amazing exhibitions. The first one that I popped over to was SL Beauty where I had a little chuckle to myself when I saw this.

Gurlywood was my favourite hair shop many years ago. I must have spent a small fortune in there and I still have a couple of the old hairstyles lingering about in my inventory for old times sake.

And I did think I was the bees knees in my red and black blingy shoes.

I nipped to the Glasz Mini Movie exhibit to take a quick snap of myself. If you take a selfie then post it on the SL15B Community Flickr group, it will be used in a film.

Sanctuary
The Path of Moods & Emotions
The Origin Of Life
These are just a few that I walked around and I always try to grab as much information from the exhibits as possible so I can then visit the sim.
If hunts are your thing the SLB15 Big Hunt is going on with the participating exhibits displaying a magnifying glass.
The shopping event is proving very popular and I've had to wait to get in because the region was full. When I did get in it was extremely laggy but with exclusive items, big discounts (many by 50%) and lots of free gifts, I'm not surprised. The event runs until July 2nd so I've plenty of time yet to go and spend some Lindens.
Information about SL15B live events and slurls to exhibits can be found here.
